* All skill levels welcome. Even if you have never used Speedlites before,  all your questions will be answered. This seminar teaches real world information that you can take home and use immediately. This seminar will feature live demonstrations with models where you will see the images created right before you eyes.

In this workshop you will learn how to get the most out of your portable flash system. You will become familiar with the different settings for the flash and how to utilize them to achieve impressive studio quality images. You will also learn hou how to overcome specific exposure challenges of the flashes from Nikon and Canon.

Lighting is at the very heart of photography.

What to bring . . .

Photographers should bring plenty of note taking supplies. No equipment is needed but you are welcome to bring a camera to document the various lighting setups, poses etc. Please do not bring large camera cases, tripods, studio lighting equipment or other items that takes up large amounts of space.

A. No. All payments are due when registering. This is due to the limited space available.

A. All deposits, including the application fee, will be refunded IN FULL if a workshop has to be cancelled. Otherwise, you can receive a full refund by notifying us of your change in plans 30 days in advance of the date of the class.

Features live demonstrations with models to give you a first-hand, real time understanding of how top level images are created. Appropriate for all skill levels. Mike Luter of Desktop Darkroom will be your instructor.

You will learn: • Choice of lights; advantages and disadvantages of each  • Flash vs. continuous lights • How to change the quality of your light with accessories • Using soft boxes; various sizes and types • Umbrellas • Grids • Snoots • Proper positioning of the lights, starting with one light and working up to a four-light set up • Main light • Fill; will also use reflectors • Background lights • Hair light • Edge lights • Proper positioning of lights and subject • Proper metering techniques • Using light to sculpt your subject (creating dimension through lighting techniques) • How to set a custom white balance. . .and more.
